Health Suraksha silver covers daycare treatment, pre and post hospitalization, domiciliary treatment expenses. The children of 5 years can also be covered in the plan if their parents are covered under HDFC ergo policy.
Features of HDFC Ergo Health Suraksha Silver Plan
There is no need of medical check-up before buying the policy if you are less than 45 years, in-network hospital cashless treatment will be given. If a person hasn’t claimed in a year then a 5% bonus will be given in next year’s policy, there is no such sub-limit set on any disease, doctor fees, and hospital charges. In an individual policy, two or more family member will be covered under the same policy, and also a family can avail a discount of 10% on the premium.
The term of policy can be for 1 or 2 years based on preferences, pre-and post-hospitalization are covered before hospitalization and discharge, in pre-hospitalization 60 days and post-hospitalization 90 days.
The policy covers daycare procedure, also an insured person is eligible to receive compensation of 144 day care procedure which is listed by the company.
Before making claim the waiting period is 30 days, and it does not apply in the case of accident injuries, or emergency.
In policy the free-look period is given to the policyholder, free look period means time of 15 days is given to the policyholder to review the term of the policy.
HDFC Health Suraksha silver is lifelong renewability, which means a person can renew the policy in lifetime.
Under the Income Tax Act, section 80D the insured person is eligible to have tax benefit of the amount paid as premium in the policy.
Exclusions from HDFC Ergo Health Suraksha Silver Plan
HDFC covers an insured person in every possible way but some things are not feasible, the person will not be able to claim as per the below condition:
As per section 5C, anything related to the war, the act of war, biological weapon, nuclear and chemical or any kind of breach of law with the intention of a criminal mind, attempt suicide, professionally participating in hazardous or adventure sport including but limited to para jumping, rock climbing, mountaineering, motor racing, rafting, horse racing, or scuba diving, sky diving, treatment of alcoholism, drug or substance abuse or any additive condition, weight control program or any treatment of obesity, external congenital illness, sleep apnoea, treatment to the effect of or to effect of infertility, sterility, cosmetic surgery or plastic surgery unless requiring due to the accident, any non-allopathic treatment, cancer or burn. Maternity, childbirth-related expenses are excluded.
Waiting period
- 24 month waiting period– Some specific illness will be cured after the waiting period of 24 months from the inception day.
- Initial waiting period– No claim will be accepted for the first 30 days of the policy period, except accidental claim.
- 48 month waiting period– It is applied in the case of existing illness, excluding accidental claims.
Benefits of HDFC Ergo Health Suraksha Silver Plan
- Organ donor– The policy will cover the expenses which are incurred at the time of harvesting an organ.
- AYUSH benefit– The policy will cover all the expenses of in-patient treatment like homeopathy, Siddha, Ayurveda, or Unani.
- Health checkup– 1% of the sum insured can be used for health checkups only when they haven’t claim for 4 consecutive years. 1% means maximum Rs. 5000.
Claim procedure of HDFC Ergo Health Suraksha Silver Plan
The insured must inform the company at least 7 days before the hospitalization only if they wish to make a claim.
The company must be informed at least 7 days before the commencement of any treatment, procedure, or consultation so that the company will authorize these procedures.
All the documents and reimbursement claims should be submitted to the company before the completion of 15 days from the date of completion or discharge of an insured person, whichever is the earliest day.
